The new hardwire Sloan ECOS retrofit kit offers contractors an easy way to add sensor-triggered dual-flush operation to commercial restrooms.
The kit, which is suitable for converting most manual and electronic single-flush valves, is designed to provide immediate water savings with its reduced flush cycle. Converting a 1.0 gallon per flush (gpf) urinal to a 0.5 gpf high-efficiency urinal flushometer would potentially save 20,000 gallons of water per year in an average men’s restroom, reports the manufacturer.
The dual-flush Sloan ECOS kit features two manual “courtesy flush” buttons on top, which offer restroom users two water-efficient flush options: Push the small green button for a reduced flush of 1.1 gallons of water for liquids, or push the large chrome button to initiate a full flush of 1.6 gpf to remove solids.
If the user does not depress a button, the retrofit kit’s “Smart Sense Technology” takes over and automatically initiates a flush cycle, based on how long the user remains in the sensor range. Users who stay within the sensor range less than a minute activate the reduced flush; users who stay longer activate the full flush.
In addition, advanced sensor technology eliminates false flushing.
A low-voltage AC line, easier to install than a DC line reports the manufacturer, powers the hardwire Sloan ECOS kit. A battery-powered version is also available.
