Toronto, ON — The City of Toronto is accepting applications for its Deep Retrofit Challenge program. The program will see Toronto fund deep retrofit projects that significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) in approximately 10 to 16 buildings in the city. Applications must be in by Oct. 31.
Participating buildings will receive a grant equal to 25 per cent of their total project costs up to a maximum of up to $500,000 (depending on gross floor area and building performance) to offset the incremental design and construction costs required to achieve maximum emissions reductions
Eligible retrofits must reduce energy use and GHGs by at least 50 per cent. Buildings must also be an Ontario Building Code Part 3 building (more than 600 m2 or three storeys). They can include multi-unit residential buildings (including condominiums, apartments, etc), commercial office buildings, and mixed-use buildings (residential and commercial, including residential over commercial).
Retrofits must be finished by Jan. 31, 2023. Toronto will host its second webinar about the application process on Sept.21.
