Over 6,000 industry personnel attended the Mechanical Electrical Electronic Technology Show (MEET 2018) held May 2-3 at the Moncton Coliseum Complex, in Moncton, N.B.

The ‘gathering of the clan’ for the Atlantic plumbing and mechanical industry “was a success by all measures,” said show manager Shawn Murphy. “We saw (manufacturers) from across Canada and the United States showcase the latest in building technology – from robots to heating units and smart home innovations. There was a lot to take in over the course of two days.”

Over 400 attended the sold-out Industry Dinner at the Delta Beauséjour Hotel. During the evening, organizers awarded a special MEET Show Recognition Award to long-time show chairman Mike Patterson who, in his day job, is regional sales leader, plumbing, for Emco Atlantic. “It’s pleasing that I was able to contribute and be recognized. I’ve been at it for a number of years and I always enjoy being part of the event,” said Patterson. “I was very pleased with the show this year. The crowds looked good and I’ve had a lot of great comments from exhibitors as well,” he added.

Two lucky show visitors and two salespeople won cash prizes in the MEET Passport Program. Jeffrey St-Pierre and Stephen MacBurnie both won $3,000, and salespersons John MacVicar and Steve Shaw went home with $1,000 each.

Over 200 visitors attended various education sessions. Four companies were recognized for their innovative products with a MEET Innovation Award. Filtration Plus, received the ACME Innovation Award for its Sensor 360 filtration monitoring technology, Bosch Thermotechnology earned the CIPH Innovation Award for its Greentherm 9000 tankless water heater, Stelpro won the EFC Innovation Award for its Maestro smart controller thermostat, and Axis Lighting received the IES Innovation Award for its product stencil.

The event is sponsored by the Canadian Institute of Plumbing and Heating (CIPH), Electro-Federation of Canada (EFC), Illumination Engineering Society (IES), and Atlantic Canada Mechanical Exhibitors (ACME).

The next MEET show will take place in 2020. For more information, please visit www.MEETshow.ca.
