Vancouver, B.C. — Technical Safety BC has announced its plan to increase membership fees by two per cent, starting May 17, 2021. The announcement comes following client feedback and COVID-19 related recovery indicators, reports the regulator.
As a self-funded safety regulator, they do not receive government funding and rely on fees to cover their costs related to safety oversight in British Columbia. Technical Safety BC oversees the installation and operation of technical systems and equipment across the province. In addition, they issue permits, licenses, and certificates. Through assessment, education and outreach, enforcement, and research, their goal is to reduce safety risks.
In 2020, the regulator has launched online design registration, remote inspections, education for building owners, and advanced industry knowledge.
Fees schedules are available on the Technical Safety BC website; for more information, please visit www.technicalsafetybc.ca/fees.
