Toronto, ON – The Canadian Institute of Plumbing and Heating (CIPH) has elected Michael Saragosa, procurement director at Noble Corporation, as the new president for its Ontario region’s board of directors for 2023/24. Saragosa replaces Josh Hopkins, vice president of sales and marketing at Oatey, who served as president for 2022/23. Hopkins will now act as treasurer for the region.
The announcement came during CIPH Ontario’s latest annual general meeting (AGM) and business meeting, which was held on May 4 at the Mississauga Convention Centre. The theme for the final AGM of the year was “Changing Tomorrow Today – The View Forward.”
Keeping with the theme of changing tomorrow, Terry Olynyk, president and managing director with Multiplex, gave a presentation on 3D mapping and modelling, the digital real-time twinning of smart buildings from the design phase through to operation, and the energy output and consumption of materials and buildings.
During the AGM, CIPH also presented a Lifetime Service Award to Vince Kennelly of Bardon Supplies Ltd and a new membership plaque to Lisa Cote-McKain of Symmons Industry Inc. The organization also took a moment to recognize the efforts of Ralph Suppa, its current president, who will retire next year.
Saragosa presented Suppa with a gift and spoke briefly on the efforts made by Suppa to help better the industry and the organization.
