This October will see the launch of a new celebration within the HVAC/R sector. Global HVAC/R Women Week is a week-long initiative from Oct. 25 to 31 that connects women and their colleagues across heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and heat pumps.
Started by Stephen Gill, the founder of World Refrigeration Day, this event’s main theme is “Local Voices, Global Connections, One HVAC/R Community.” During this weeklong event, local communities around the world will gather to share knowledge and achievements and create new connections.
Global HVAC/R Women Week will feature a global programme made up of local events organized by companies, universities, professional institutions, women’s groups, trade associations and volunteers around the world. Events will be held both in-person and online.
Online webinars will serve as either a standalone event or as part of a larger local activity. This includes a conference, technical seminar, networking event, university lecture, school outreach programme, workshop, or community event.
While the inaugural event takes place between Oct. 25 to 31, going forward, this event will change dates to highlight important women who shaped the HVAC/R sector.
This year’s date honours Margaret Ingels, an American engineer and the first woman to graduate in engineering from the University of Kentucky. Through her work, Ingels advanced the understanding of air conditioning, ventilation, and human comfort.
