HVAC/R industry celebrating International Women’s Day

Vaughan, ON — Women in HVAC/R Canada are celebrating International Women’s Day by hosting an all-day event, which features educational sessions, a panel discussion, and a dinner/dance. As the tagline of the event states, “Bring your dancing shoes.”

The event will be held on International Women’s Day on March 8 and will run from 1 p.m. until midnight at the Novotel Toronto Vaughan Centre in Vaughan, Ont. Gentlemen are welcome!

Things kick off with opening remarks by Shelley Vallee-Ewing, co-founder and board member at Women in HVAC/R Canada and district sales manager for GTA West and Southwestern Ontario at Vista Services, and Nathalie Brooks, co-founder and board member at Women in HVAC/R Canada and chief financial officer at Brooks Heating & Air.

Christine McIver, CEO of Inspired Choices Network will lead the opening keynote presentation on Business Success on Your Own Term! Next on the agenda, Jennifer Bagley, CEO and founder of CI Web Group will speak about Breaking Barriers – Empowering Women in HVAC.

After a quick networking break, Julie Cole, co-founder of Mabel’s Labels, will talk about “Managing the Motherlode – From Start-up to Sales.”

A panel discussion will be held, which will be moderated by Brandi Ferenc, HVAC journeyman at Southlake Regional Health Centre, apprenticeship mentor at Support Ontario Youth, and HVAC instructor at Georgian College, and features Tania Johnson, CEO at the Mechanical Contractors Association of Canada, Glenda Rahn, program director for the construction trade at Support Ontario Youth, Mark Venters, managing partner at Venters Recruits and Rockstar Recruiting, and Katie Hughes, owner of HVAC Doris as the panellists. The topic of discussion will be “How women are an asset in the HVAC/R industry.”

To wrap up a fun-filled day, a dinner and dance will be held.
