Richardson, Texas — To quote the talented Sir Elton John, “Can you feel the love tonight?” Those lucky enough to be chosen as a community hero from Lennox’s Feel the Love program might soon be humming that tune to themselves.
The HVAC manufacturer is partnering with its residential dealer network in Canada and the United States to run its annual Feel the Love Program, highlighting community heroes and donating heating/cooling equipment free of charge.
This marks the 14th year of the program, and nominations will be accepted until Aug. 31. “It’s such a good feeling to be able to help somebody that wouldn’t normally ask for it, who wouldn’t normally put themselves first. That’s who we want to give back to,” said Jamie Sanchez, inside sales rep at Lennox.
The Feel the Love Program asks for nominations from individuals and organizations of deserving families, neighbours and community heroes who are in need of a safer and more comfortable home. Lennox adds that past nominees have included teachers, firefighters, medical staff and volunteers; families facing hard times; veterans; senior citizens living in older homes; and people impacted by natural disasters.
Once selected, recipients will receive brand-new heating or cooling equipment during the second week of October — Lennox’s Feel the Love Installation Week. The installations will take place from Oct. 7 to 14.
An example of a recent recipient is the Varacalli family:
“Before Christmas 2020, their daughter Mia was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder called Glanzmann Thrombasthenia (GT). This rare blood clotting disorder currently has no cure, and Mia has had more than 20 visits to the ER and countless hospital stays and admissions in her short life, most of which require a trip to a hospital in London, Ont, to work with a specialized team. The costs of these stays, plus all of the stress and challenges from navigating Mia’s illness have taken a toll on their family, and if that wasn’t enough, their air conditioner stopped working this summer. The warm temperatures can negatively impact Mia’s condition, so her grandparents nominated the family for Feel the Love. Thanks to Fahrhall Mechanical Contractors and a new air conditioner from Lennox, Mia’s family will have peace of mind knowing they have one less thing to worry about and can focus on keeping their daughter healthy.” This testimony was taken from the Feel the Love website.
Founded in 2009, the program states it has installed more than 2,000 heating and cooling systems at no charge to homeowners. The program has had 37 Canadian provinces and U.S. states participate and has donated more than $10.5 million in materials.
