The Peel District School Board in Mississauga, Ont., just west of Toronto, will create its first regional skilled trades program in September 2019.

The program will be introduced at West Credit Secondary School to provide learning and career exploration opportunities while preparing students to meet skilled trades labour force demands locally, regionally, and provincially.

Students in the program can choose to specialize in various trade preparation courses, including child development practitioner, construction technology, green industries, hairstyling and aesthetics, hospitality and tourism, manufacturing technology, and transportation technology.

“Our facility is truly unique and features 12 different industry standard specialized technology education shops which will prepare our students with the skills, tools and training they need for apprenticeships, work and college pathways,” reported Crissa Hill, West Credit Secondary School principal.

For more information about the program, visit www.regionalskilledtrades.com or call 905-858-3087.
