Vancouver, British Columbia—The Skills Canada National Competition 2022 (SCNC), the country’s only national, multi-trade and technology competition for students and apprentices, will be hosted in Vancouver, B.C. in 2022. Held at the Vancouver Convention Centre, the competition will run from May 25 to 28. In addition to hosting the event, the province of B.C. is donating $250,000 to the founding competition organization, Skills Compétences Canada (SCC).
“From bricklaying and carpentry to graphic design, computer animation and cooking, this event showcases talent, connects youth with employers and promotes careers in the skilled trades and technologies,” said Anne Kang, minister of advanced education and skills training.
Over 300 competitors are expected to take part in the event. There will be 35 competitions for participants. It will be comprised of six sectors: construction, employment, information technology, manufacturing and engineering, services and transportation. At the end of the competition, a closing ceremony will be held, with medals given to the top performers.
The competition is a free event, open to the public and offers students and apprentices the chance to network and gain hands-on experience related to skilled trade and technology careers. In addition to the competition, participants will also have access to over 40 “try-a-trade and technology” activities.
