Ottawa, ON — Susie and her mom explore the wonders of a construction jobsite, with a curiosity only a child can have, as she learns about the mechanical trades in her second adventure with Susie’s Marvelous World of ME.
The Mechanical Contractors Association of Canada (MCAC) has officially launched its second book of the Susie Builds book series at its recent annual general conference in Bridgetown, Barbados.
This book sees Susie exploring the world of mechanical and electrical (ME) on real-life jobsites. The book will highlight how pipes carry water, wires bring light, and machines help buildings breathe.
The Susie series was developed by the Women in Mechanical Contracting (WiMC), an initiative of MCAC. The goal of the book series is to inspire children, specifically girls, to participate in the skilled trades industry.
“We’re planting the seed of a girl performing a trade, in a fun way, but – equally important – we’re also normalizing it for boys that the girls are in trades, before they realize that it’s an anomaly,” adds Judy-Lynn Mason, former chair of the WiMC.
Susie’s Marvelous World of ME is available for pre-order. The first book of the series, Susie’s Shed, is available for purchase here.
