Canada’s kitchen and bath industry will have a new gathering place this winter. The new Kitchen + Bath Canada Expo will be held at the Toronto Congress Centre from Nov. 11 to 12. It will bring together designers, architects, builders, showrooms, distributors, manufacturers, and industry leaders from across Canada for two days of product discovery, education, networking, and community.

This will be the first expo produced by Emerald, the team behind the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS), which runs annually in either Las Vegas, Nevada or Orlando, Florida. This year’s expo was also developed in partnership with the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA).

The theme for this year’s show is “Naturally,” and as the expo states, “The expo is inspired by the materials, textures, light, movement, and living experiences defining today’s homes, naturally shaping the atmosphere of Kitchen + Bath Canada through thoughtfully designed spaces and curated product discovery.”

During the two-day event, guests will have access to an exhibition hall featuring a variety of exhibitors, including Artika, Daltile of Canada, Häfele Canada, Karran, Richelieu, Classic Brand Cabinetry, and Aline International.
The event will also feature a full educational program with presentations and panel discussions from leading Canadian voices in the design and construction sectors. This year’s educational program will also highlight Canadian-focused education and stage programming addressing the trends, business challenges, and opportunities shaping the market.

Educational topics
Educational topics covered during the first day of the expo include Canadian Design and the Culture of the Cottage, Regional Realities: How Great Design Responds to Place, Obsession with Success: The Journey from Designer to Business, The Great Specification Debate: Design Decisions Under Pressure, The Anti-McMansion: The Rise of the Right-Sized Kitchen, “Beyond Atheistic: Designing for Culture, Family, and Function, and The New Canadian Consumer: Designing Through a More Demanding Economy.

The second day of the expo will include educational topics such as Canada’s Kitchen and Bath Market: What’s Next?, AI in Practice: What’s Working, Failing, and What You Need to Know, Luxury in the City, The Realities of Sourcing in Canada, Designing for the Last Move: Longevity, Ageing, and the Future of the Canadian Home, and the Kitchen and Bath Hot List: Products, Booths, and Ideas that Stood Out.

Programming for this year’s expo was developed by the inaugural Designer Advisory Group. This group includes six accomplished design professionals from coast-to-coast who work directly with Kitchen + Bath Canada.

The Designer Advisory Group consists of Eva Healy, founder and principal designer at avenue design inc. in Ontario, Madeleine Sloback, founder and creative director of Madeline Design Group in British Columbia, Jonathan Legate, founder and principal designer at Jonathan Legate Interior Consultation in Nova Scotia, Sophie Donelson, author, speaker and design expert, Alykhan Velji, creative director of Alykhan Velji Designs in Alberta, and Ashley de Boer, founder and principal designer at Ashley de Boer Interiors in British Columbia.
