Toronto, ON — The city of Toronto announces a new online portal for both building and stand-alone mechanical (HVAC) permits: the Building Permit Application Pre-Check and the Toronto Building Online Services Application Submission Tool.
The Building Permit Application Pre-Check is an online self-check tool that helps applicants identify potential issues in eligible building permit applications before submitting them. Use of the tool is voluntary and doesn’t change Toronto’s formal application or review requirements. The tool doesn’t approve permits or replace staff review.
This pilot program will run for one year and is currently available for specific projects involving residential buildings with two units or fewer, including additions, alterations, laneway and garden suites, decks, porches and detached garages in eligible residential zones.
The press release adds that the Building Permit Applications Pre-Check program “aims to reduce avoidable resubmissions, support faster first reviews and advance Toronto’s broader work to improve housing approvals and help get more homes built.”
Additionally, stand-alone mechanical (HVAC) permits can be made online via the Toronto Building Online Services Application Submission Tool. Through this service, applicants can see which documents are required and which external approvals (if needed) apply to the submissions.
Applicants can also track their submissions from start to completion.
