Vancouver, B.C. — Homeowners in British Columbia are eligible for a bonus $1,000 rebate when upgrading their home heating system by Oct. 31.

Through BCHydro’s Home Renovation Rebate program, homeowners who complete and pay for an eligible air-source heat pump upgrade are eligible for the bonus and a chance to win one of three $5,000 prizes.

For this promotion, bonus rebate funding is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis to eligible BC Hydro applicants, while funds last. To qualify, homeowners must complete, invoice, and pay for their eligible installation between Aug. 1 and Oct. 31, 2026, and submit a complete rebate application by Nov. 30, 2026.

BCHydro’s Home Renovation Rebate program features two heat pump rebate options, whole-home heating and partial-home heating.

Through the whole-home heating option, homeowners can receive up to $4,000 for installing a new heat pump. Heat pumps installed through this option must meet 100 per cent of the home’s heating requirements at –5°C. These heat pumps must also have a minimum 12,000 BTU (British Thermal Unit) rated capacity at 8°C /47°F.

By installing a new heat pump through the partial home-heating option, homeowners can receive up to $1,500. Heat pumps installed through this option must meet 50 per cent or more of the home’s heating requirements.

BCHydro adds that homes that complete more than one upgrade may be eligible for a $2,000 bonus rebate.
