Newfoundland urged to make refrigeration/AC a compulsory trade

By Plumbing & HVAC Staff on January 29, 2019 News

The Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI) is supporting a proposal to make refrigeration and air conditioning a compulsory trade in Newfoundland and Labrador.

HRAI president and CEO Sandy MacLeod wrote a letter supporting the proposal by the Newfoundland and Labrador HVACR Trades Association to Sandra Bishop, Nfld. director of advanced education, skills and labour.

Most provinces have made the trade compulsory, citing public safety, consumer protection and the promotion of certification and professional standards within the trade.
