Atlanta, Georgia — Three Canadians were honoured during ASHRAE’s annual conference held in Tampa, Florida.

ASHRAE’s annual conference recognizes its members’ contributions to the association and the built environment industry. “We are thrilled to recognize and celebrate the exceptional achievements of this year’s ASHRAE Honors and Awards recipients,” said Farooq Mehboob, ASHRAE’s president for 2022-2023. “Through their outstanding work, they have exemplified ASHRAE’s mission to create a more sustainable and comfortable built environment for all. We congratulate each recipient and express our gratitude for their invaluable contributions to the industry.”

The following Canadians were recognized for their efforts:

Badri Patel, BEAP, an HVAC equipment account executive at Johnson Controls in Toronto, received the Dan Mills Chapter Programs Award, which recognizes excellence in chapter program endeavours.

Hakim H. Elmahdy from Orleans, Ont., and Blair McCarry, P.Eng., P.E. from Vancouver, B.C., were awarded the Distinguished 50-Year Member Award. This award is given to individuals who have been a member for a minimum of 50 years and are either a past society president, fellow ASHRAE or distinguished service award recipient, or who has performed outstanding service to ASHRAE or its predecessor societies.

Elmadhy is a fellow life member and is currently retired. McCarry is also a fellow life member and is the current owner of Blair McCarry Consulting.

There were 18 awards handed out during the conference. For the full list of winners, visit ASHRAE Annual Conference Award Recipients.
