Broomfield, Colorado —Viega has collaborated with ASTM to publish a new standard for installing press connections.
The ASTM B1029 standard aims to “enhance the reliability, efficiency, and adoption of press-connect technology in its approved applications by providing a standardized practice to be used across the industry.”
The standard applies to press-connect fittings in pressurized systems such as plumbing, facility water, domestic water, vacuum, compressed air and gases, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, hydronic glycol, refrigeration, condenser and chilled water, and fire suppression sprinklers.
ASTM is a global organization that develops and provides standards for various industries and applications. With this collaboration, Viega aims to support the widespread adoption of press-connect technology, according to the manufacturer.
Additionally, Viega and ASTM encourages industry members to incorporate standard B1029 language and practices into their projects.
