A-Gas opens new refrigeration facility

Dartmouth, NS — A lifecycle refrigerant management company opens the doors to its newly certified facility in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. A-Gas announced its facility received an official Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) laboratory certification. The lab was acquired as part of A-Gas’ acquisition of Refrigerant Management Services Inc.

As stated in the press release, “This site now stands as the only AHRI-certified lab in Canada, significantly strengthening A-Gas’ support for Canadian industry and underscoring its commitment to quality, efficiency, and compliance.”

The AHRI 700 standard sets benchmarks for the purity and quality of reclaimed refrigerant. This standard also outlines the “stringent composition, purity, and contaminant limits for all fluorocarbon, hydrocarbon, and carbon dioxide refrigerants, regardless of source, ensuring only the highest quality product reaches the market,” as stated in the press release.

The AHRI 700 standard includes test methods that apply to all new, reclaimed, or repackaged refrigerants, including CFCs, HCFCs, HFCs, HFOs, A2Ls, and hydrocarbons.

“A-Gas is incredibly proud to bring businesses a resource within Canada to meet their testing and analysis needs without the added burden of trans-border logistics,” stated Andrew Stride, general manager for A-Gas in Canada.

With its AHRI certification, the newly certified Canadian facility will help significantly reduce turnaround times for lab analysis and refrigerant testing for Canadian clients.

The Dartmouth facility is one of three A-Gas labs in North America with this distinction. The first two are in Rhome, Texas, and Bowling Green, Ohio. With this latest distinction, A-Gas becomes the only organization with more than two labs on the continent.

The Plumbing & HVAC team visited the facility in March 2025. Check out Part 1 and Part 2 on our Instagram.
