Chicago, Illinois — The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and the Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) have made the decision to postpone the AHR Expo, originally scheduled for Jan. 25-27.
ASHRAE and AHRI are looking to reschedule the event for March 15-17, however, no final decisions have been made. A final decision regarding in-person festivities will be announced on or before Oct. 15.
“While no one can predict the evolution of the pandemic, an additional seven weeks may make a difference in our ability to conduct the exposition,” reports ASHRAE in a press release. The event will remain at McCormick Place, Chicago, Illinois.
Recently, a survey was conducted to gauge industry interest in moving the 2021 show to March. The results indicated the proposed date change was preferred by nearly 80 per cent of exhibitor and attendee participants. “While no final decisions have been made, and many factors will be considered, we remain optimistic as we continue to investigate feasibility,” reports AHR Expo.
Both McCormick Place and Choose Chicago, an organization dedicated to bringing visitors to Chicago, recognize the importance of the show for the city and have express support for the new March dates.
