Toronto, ON — Brandi Ferenc, a Red Seal 313a refrigeration mechanic and gas fitter one journeyperson, is one of the CPKC Skilled Trades Award recipients.
The award recognizes outstanding women who “contribute immense value and demonstrate excellence in skilled trades, product or service innovation and community involvement.”
The CPKC Skilled Trades Award is given out as part of the Women’s Executive Network’s (WXN) 2023 Canada’s Most Powerful Women Award.
In 2022, Ferenc was named one of Canada’s most powerful women by the WXN. Ferenc currently teaches HVAC at Georgian College, Barrie, Ont, and mentors women in skilled trades and HVAC apprentices at Support Ontario Youth.
This past year, Ferenc started her own business, Fair-Trades Toolbox, which works with skilled trades employers, industry leaders and government on how to properly onboard women into their male-dominated workforce to make it a seamless transition for all parties involved.
Elizabeth Moses, machinist and sheet metal apprentice with Smart Local Union 280, also received the CPKC Skilled Trades Award.
