Second-quarter in 2021 vs. 2020 for select HVAC/R equipment.

Ductless split systems are becoming more and more popular within the Canadian market. According to the Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI), ductless split systems showed an increase of 126 per cent at the end of the second quarter. Air handlers reported the only decrease within the HVAC/R equipment market (down 17 per cent) in year-to-date. According to HRAI, residential furnaces increased 65 per cent, residential air conditioning increased 64 per cent, unit heaters increased 34 per cent, commercial air conditioning increased 23 per cent, and chillers increase 19 per cent.

Minor adjustments have been made to the 2020 quarterly for air handlers and year-to-date for ductless split systems.
