Snowmelt projects vary from simple to complex. This custom home project required snow melting on several elevations.

In an age of misinformation, training and education have become a more important asset to have in your back pocket. The Canadian Hydronics Council (CHC) will offer a five-part webinar series intended for anyone in the hydronic heating industry – including installers, designers, wholesale counter sales professionals, manufacturers, contractors, and government officials.

The sessions will run from 1 – 2 p.m. for each day and will take place Jan. 22, Feb. 5, Feb. 19, March 4, and March 18.

The first webinar will focus on hydronic fundamentals and cover the basics of what hydronic heating consists of and where it is used, advantages, both residential and commercial hot water heating applications, components, and its terminology. Every webinar session will be presented by Rob Waters, technical consultant on codes and standards for the Canadian Institute of Plumbing and Heating (CIPH).

On Feb. 5, the webinar will focus on closed loop and open loop systems, non-condensing and condensing hot water boilers, hot water tanks, heat pumps and solar systems, and sample boiler selection and sizing parameters.

Module 3 will look at heat emitters for hydronic heating. In this session, participants will learn about radiator types – including cast iron, copper fin tube, cabinet, panel, towel warmer, fan coil, air heating, radiant floor heating, indirect domestic hot water heating, snow melting, pool heating, and hybrid multi-function systems.

The fourth webinar looks at circulating pumps, expansion tanks, low water cut-offs, air separators/air vents, pressure relief valves, boiler fill assembly, heat exchangers, low loss headers, system piping, and specialty fittings.

The final webinar will focus on basic heat loss fundamentals, calculating flow rate requirements, sizing and selecting circulating pumps, expansion tanks, mass tanks and direct hot water tanks.
