Ottawa, ON —During its virtual celebration, the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies Canada (ACEC) has announced that Siobhan Robinson of Kerr Wood Leidal and Lindsay Bolton of CBCL Group are the co-winners of the 2022 Allen D. Williams Scholarship award.

The scholarship award commemorates Allen D. Williams, the past ACEC Chair and founder of Williams Engineering Inc. and is given to a young professional who has demonstrated leadership qualities in their involvement with or contributions to the advancement of the consulting engineering industry. The award also provides the recipient with funding to cover registration, airfare and accommodations to attend the annual conference of the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC).

Lindsey Bolton, co-winner of the award

“Viewed by the leadership at CBCL Group as an employee who consistently outperforms expectations, Bolton rose from junior engineer to the firm’s lead for water resources and climate change. She headed CBCL’s response to a five-year nationwide federal standing offer for climate change adaptation services,” as per the press release. “Lindsay is also incredibly passionate about advancing diversity and inclusion in the consulting Industry. She has been a member of the APEGNB Diversity and Inclusion committee since 2017. As the Chair of ACEC-NB’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee, she was instrumental in the completion of their Women in Consulting Engineering study.”

ACEC represents companies in Canada that provide professional engineering services to both public and private sector clients. These services include the planning, design and execution of all types of engineering projects, as well as providing independent advice and expertise in a wide range of engineering and engineering-related fields.

“As a project engineer with a focus on water supply and treatment at Kerr Wood Leidal, Robinson’s technical and interpersonal skills are best evidenced by the high demand for her participation in projects by clients and internal project managers,” explains the association in a press release. “She brings an abundance of innovation in her solutions, refreshing new ways to solve both the hard technical problems and the soft communication components essential in engineering. Her successful management of projects of increasing size and complexity resulted in her rise within the firm at an early stage in her career.”
