Toronto, ON — Twelve lucky Canadian educational organizations will receive grants under DeWalt’s Grow the Trades program.
“As Canada grapples with how to address in-demand skilled trades gaps nationwide, DeWalt is committed to doing its part to fill these critical roles by supporting organizations who share our commitment to empowering the next generation of tradespeople,” said Allan Hawes, general manager of Stanley Black & Decker Canada Inc.
Winners of the grant were selected via a competitive application process based on its trades-focused initiatives. The funds are aimed at supporting those interested in a career in concrete, mechanical finishing, and pipe trades.
Nine of the recipient locations are from Ontario, including Algonquin College, Ottawa, Ont., Conestoga College, Kitchener, Ont., Durham College, Oshawa, Ont., Fanshawe College, London, Ont., Georgian College, Barrie, Ont., Humber College, Toronto, Ont., and Mohawk College, Hamilton, Ont., District School Board of Niagara, Niagara Falls, Ont., and College of Carpenters and Allied Trades Inc., Woodbridge, Ont.
Thompson Rivers University, Kamloops, B.C., British Columbia Institute of Technology, Burnaby, B.C., and Okanagan College, Kelowna, B.C. rounded out the last three recipients of the grant.
DeWalt opens its applications for its 2025 trades scholarship program in October.
