Edmonton, ALTA — An Edmonton community centre is undergoing a $1.2 million energy efficiency renovation project.
The Dovercourt Community League will receive a new solar panel system, LED lighting, heating, ventilation, plumbing, and window upgrades.
The upgrades are expected to reduce energy consumption by approximately 40 per cent, with a 29-tonne decrease in greenhouse gas emissions.
The community centre adds that the renovations will help extend the life of the 7,500 sq. ft. hall, 3700 sq. ft. rink building, and outdoor skating rink.
Funding for the project comes through the Green and Inclusive Community Buildings program.
