Grundfos adds Newterra to its water treatment portfolio

Bjerringbro, Denmark — Grundfos, a Danish-based manufacturer of pumps and water solutions, has acquired Newterra, a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based company specializing in water and wastewater treatment.

This acquisition is another step in Grundfos’ efforts in expanding its water treatment platform, which has seen a series of acquisitions.

“With Newterra’s capabilities and track record, we see this as a perfect fit for Grundfos. By integrating their complementary technologies and leveraging their market presence, we will be able to offer a wider range of products and offerings. This addition to our portfolio will enable our customers to address the evolving demands for water solutions,” said Inge Delobelle, executive vice president and divisional CEO, industry division of Grundfos.

Newterra has around 280 employees, designs, engineers, manufactures, and services a wide range of modular water and wastewater treatment solutions for industrial and municipal customers. Through this acquisition, Grundfos’ water treatment business will now have more than 1,500 employees across Europe and North America.

The press release adds that, “This acquisition underscores Grundfos’ strategic ambition to expand its presence in the important US and Canadian markets.”
