Mississauga, ON — The Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI) has announced the recipients of its Orvil L. Davie Bursary Fund, which provides recipients with $1,000 each.

This year’s recipients include Devon Mahon of Centennial College, Scarborough, Ont, Krista Buzzeo of Camosun College, Victoria, B.C, and Melissa Palamar of Algonquin College, Ottawa, Ont.

“I was thrilled to learn of my selection as the recipient of the Orvil L. Davie Memorial Fund. This truly is an honour, and I am deeply appreciative for the support,” shared Palamar. “As a mature student and a mom of three, you have lightened my financial burden, which allows me to focus more on my schooling. I am excited about my future prospects as I progress through the HRAC program at Algonquin College. Thank you, HRAI.”

The fund’s purpose is to assist students in completing their education for a career in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration industry (HVAC/R) and to assist in maintaining a higher calibre of HVAC/R industry personnel.

The fund provides bursaries to individuals who require financial assistance to complete training in an accepted course related to the HVACR industry. Bursaries will be awarded by the Orvil Davie Fund Committee only when suitable candidates are determined, and funds are available.

The Orvil L. Davie Memorial Fund was created in memory of Orvil L. Davie, the first chair of HRAI. Applications are reviewed twice a year, with deadlines on March 15 and Nov. 30.
