Kingston, Ontario — Modern Niagara opens the doors to its new $70 million energy-efficient facility.

The new facility recently underwent energy-efficient upgrades, which are expected to reduce carbon emissions by more than 80 per cent, or approximately 2,000 tonnes annually. The facility’s long-term goal is to achieve net-zero carbon status.

Located at 945 Princess Street, Kingston, Ont., the 230,000-square-foot facility features a full-scale dynamic space that includes wet labs, shared analytical equipment, piloting bays, pre-manufacturing space, an on-site machine shop, access to coworking space, and a community event space.

The Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB)’s building retrofit initiative provided funding for the retrofit. CIB committed $25 million to the project.
