Smith Falls, ON — New affordable housing units are set to be built in Eastern Ontario. In total, 34 supportive housing units will be built in Kingston, six transitional housing units, and two affordable housing units for families and individuals who have experienced domestic violence or abuse.

The residents of Smiths Falls, Perth, and Kingston have a safe and welcoming place to call home – that can make all the difference in addressing the challenges and opportunities they are faced with,” shares John Jordan, member of provincial parliament for Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston.
The development of a 34-unit, single-story housing project in Kingston, Ont. will all feature individual three-piece bathrooms for each unit. It will also include a small second-floor mezzanine for office space, a spacious common area, a commercial kitchen, and a dining room designed to support a communal living arrangement.
The six transitional housing units project in Perth, Ont. will be designed using universal design principles, meaning they are accessible to people of all abilities, with features like wider doorways and step-free entryways.
The development of two affordable housing units in Smith Falls, Ont. will feature 28 rent-geared-to-income units, consisting of one, two, and three-bedroom options, and seven fully accessible units within a four-storey affordable housing project.
An investment of over $2.4 million was made through the Social Services Relief Fund (SSRF), a program committed to providing longer-term housing solutions and helping vulnerable people in Ontario.
