Ottawa, ON — Have you ever tried to explain to your children the work of a tradesperson? A new children’s book has been released which aims to inspire the next generation of skilled trade workers.
Susie’s Shed looks to showcase the trades to young women and girls and help debunk the myth that girls don’t build.
“Girls, it is also important to note that career opportunities aren’t limited to pipefitting, plumbing, or welding. The entire construction industry is in need of electricians, carpenters, painters, drywallers, instrument technicians, and on and on and on. There is the perfect construction career out there awaiting each and every one of you. Dream it, and it is possible,” said Judy Lynn, chairwoman of Women in Mechanical Contracting (WiMC).
WiMC, an initiative of the Mechanical Contractors Association of Canada (MCAC), developed the book. Ken Lancastle, COO of MCAC, wrote the book, and Michael Roy illustrated it.
Susie’s Shed is on sale in Canada, the U.S., and Australia.
