The first stage of the Canada Greener Homes Loan program began on June 17.

Ottawa, ON — Interest-free loans are coming to Canada for those looking to retrofit their home.

Phase one of the Canada Greener Homes Loan program began on June 17 and is open to eligible homeowners. It is set to provide interest-free loans of up to $40,000 per household.

The goal of the program is to provide aid to homeowners looking to undertake deeper retrofits that will reduce a home’s environmental footprint and lower energy bills.

Phase two of the program is set to begin in early September and will apply to homeowners who have closed their application but still have remaining eligible retrofits. The program is funded by the federal government.
