Toronto, ON — Eight students received financial assistance in pursuing a career in the mechanical trades via the Richard McKegan Scholarship Series. Close to $25,000 in scholarships was awarded in 2023. The 2023 series saw 13 sponsors provide funding.
“Our industry, like many others across Canada, is actively looking at how we recruit the next generation of leaders for our sector,” said Charles WEBB, president and chair of MCAC. “Programs such as the Richard McKeagan Scholarship Series provide a way to support those potential entrants and ultimately give exposure to the fantastic careers available in mechanical contracting.”
Scholarships were awarded through the following MCAC associate members and MCA partners:
- Bradford White ($1,500) – Kyle Champaign
- Equipco Ltd ($1,500) – Meghan Fletcher
- Federated Insurance ($1,000) – Luca DeChellis
- Masco/Delta ($1,000) – Meghan Fletcher
- MCA Hamilton Niagara ($1,000) – Dasia Morris
- MCAC Women in Mechanical Contraction ($1,000) – Dasia Morris
- MCAC associate member ($2,000) – Caitlin Cho
- Sustainable Vision for Design Award by Mitsubishi Electric ($2,000) – Caitlin Cho
- R.J. (Bob) Evans Memorial scholarship by OS&B ($3,000) – Cory Mueller
- Richard “Dick” Palser Enterprises Ltd Memorial ($1,500) – Luca DeChellis
- Reliance Worldwide Corp’s Michael Williams Scholarship ($1,250 to each recipient) – Megan Fletcher and Dasia Morris
- Taco Comfort Solutions ($1,000 to each recipient) – Caitlin Cho and Luca DeChellis
- Uponor ($500 to each recipient) – Megan Fletcher, Dasia Morris, Brooke Carbino, Angel Tran, and Caitlin Cho
- Watts Water Technologies ($1,500) – Dasia Morris
Developed by the Mechanical Contractors Association of Canada (MCAC), the series helps lead post-secondary graduates and undergraduates toward a career in the mechanical trades.
Named in honour of past MCAC CEO Richard McKeagan, the scholarship series is supported by MCAC associate members and MCA partners across Canada.
Since its launch in 2006, the scholarship series has awarded more than $125,000 to post-secondary students.
