Support Ontario Youth calls for employers to help train apprentices

Etobicoke, ON — Support Ontario Youth (SOY) is seeking employer candidates for its Skilled Trades Workforce Development Program, which looks to promote apprenticeship opportunities throughout Ontario.

Interested employers can apply to participate through two streams.

The first is the Tools in the Trades Boot Camp, a series of one-day free events across cities in Ontario that provides hands-on tool training for individuals aged 18 and over and recent high school graduates interested in pursuing a career in the skilled trades.

Attendees of the boot camp will receive a free starter tool kit for participating. Networking will be held to allow potential employers to meet apprentices looking for work.

The second stream is under the trades readiness training program, which is geared towards newcomers and those already in the trades.

The trades readiness training program features courses on employability and networking skills, trades readiness preparation, mentorship, health and safety training, and product knowledge.
