David Hughes, left, received Caleffi’s Carlson-Holohan Industry Award of Excellence at the AHR Expo in Atlanta, Georgia.

Atlanta, Georgia — Caleffi celebrates two Canadian icons for their decades-long work in the hydronics industry. Both received their awards at a ceremony during the AHR Expo in Atlanta, Georgia.

David Hughes was awarded the Carlson-Holohan Industry Award of Excellence, which is given every two years to a nominee with attributes including technical mastery and a passion for hydronic technologies, demonstrated leadership as an educator and mentor, and an aptitude for cultivating fundraising opportunities for industry causes, reports Caleffi in a press release. The award was conceived in 2006 and more than eight recipients have received this award over the years.

He began his career as a journeyman plumber, gasfitter and steamfitter, before making his way into teaching the trades as an instructor with the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT). Since then, he helped create the certified hydronic designer and certified hydronic installer programs while working on the National Hydronic Design Subcommittee of the Canadian Institute of Plumbing and Heating (CIPH). He currently sits as CIPH’s technical advisor and principal, technical training specialist with FW&U Consulting.

John Siegenthaler received recognition from Mark Olson, CEO of Caleffi North America, during the Carlson-Holohan ceremony for his writing contributions towards the Caleffi “idronics” semi-annual design journal. He authored the first edition of the publication, “I am very touched by the generosity and kindness extended by all of you over the years,” shared Siegenthaler during the ceremony.
