
Beechville, Nova Scotia — The winners of the 2021 Mainland Nova Scotia Building Trades’ annual educational scholarship series have been announced. Names are randomly drawn at the Building Trades’ delegate meeting in June and recipients of this year’s scholarship series received their prize on June 16.
Each year, 12 individuals attending a post-secondary educational institution are awarded scholarships valued at $500.
The winners of the 18th annual scholarship draw are as listed:

- Ainsley Pelley, United Association of Journeymen Plumbers & Pipefitters
- Olivia Dearman, International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers
- Claudia Ledson, United Association of Journeymen Plumbers & Pipefitters
- Alanna Sample, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers
- Lauren Anderson, International Association of Heat & Frost
- Rebecca Boutilier, United Association of Journeymen Plumbers & Pipefitters
- Scotlynd Kennedy, United Association of Journeymen Plumbers & Pipefitters
- Hannah Wheaton, United Association of Journeymen Plumbers & Pipefitters
- Alexis Blair, International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Ironworkers
Every April, applications are sent to each of the 13 unions in the industrial/commercial/institutional construction sector that the association represents. Members can then send in completed applications to the respective office. Submissions are collected until the last delegate meeting in June.
