Certain models of Viessmann’s Vitodens 200-W and Vitodens 222-F boilers have been recalled due to a carbon monoxide hazard. The boilers are used for space or domestic water heating. The recall was jointly released by Health Canada, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (US CPSC) and Viessmann Manufacturing.
Vitodens 200-W models B2HB 19, B2HB 26, B2HB 35 and Vitodens 222-F models B2TB 19, B2TB 35 were affected. Consumers can check to see if their boiler was affected by finding the product name and model number on the left side of the boiler cover.
Any boilers that have a yellow sticker applied to the boiler rating plate located on the left side of the boiler cover have already had a heat exchanger replacement and are not part of the recall.
As of April 23, Viessmann had received no reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of the boilers in Canada or the United States. Around 1,400 units of the affected product were sold in Canada from September 2014 to September 2018.
People with recalled boilers are recommended to contact the installer or wholesaler/distributor where they purchased the boiler or Viessmann Manufacturing immediately in order to schedule a free boiler safety inspection.
